Yachting Industry Veteran Phil Everingham to Guide Miami River’s Boatyard and Marina Services Enhancement Team

“No one is better connected than Phil Everingham,” Eyerdam said.

Philip Everingham, perhaps the most seasoned veteran on the South Florida yachting and boat yard scene has been retained by the Miami River Marine Group to help guide the resurgence of the Miami River’s boatyards and marina resources.

 The continued success of Jones Boatyard, Norsemen and Merrill Stevens through this difficult economic time has demonstrated that competence and quality can overcome outdated negative impressions, “ said Rick Eyerdam executive director of the non-profit Miami River Marine Group.

 “The recent decision by my old friend David Marlow, one of the giants of the national yacht building scene, to invest in the Miami River through his purchase of Merrill Steven’s proves the point that the Miami River is returning to its prominence as a yachting destination especially for yacht repairs, refitting, re-powering and remodeling,” Eyerdam said.

 “It is our job now to find out what these busy boatyards and marinas want, what the captains and crew members want and need in terms of support services, marketing and stakeholder happiness to help them succeed and keep them coming back,” Eyerdam said. “And that is where Phil Everingham comes in.”

 Everingham served as Senior Vice President, general manager, and principal at Merrill-Stevens Dry Dock Co. until his interest was sold in 2005.  

He is the managing partner of The Marine Advisory Group, LLC, a marine consulting firm with his associate of many years, Tony Chapman.  His extensive business and management background, his knowledge of local business history and the marine industry players in South Florida, make Everingham an important resource for marine interests, locally as well as internationally, Eyerdam said.

 “Phil has been the go-to guy for a generation and now the Miami River Marine Group has retained him to be go-to guy for our new River Rats, like David Marlow and others who could benefit from his insight, experience and contacts.

 “No one is better connected than Phil Everingham,” Eyerdam said.

 Everingham is the Immediate Past President of the South Florida Marine Council, and has served several terms as President.  He served on the Board of Directors of the Marine Industries Association of South Florida, and as the Designee of the Marine Council served as Vice Chair of the Miami River Commission since its inception and most recently a Treasurer.

 

Everingham also served as a member and Past Chair of the City of Miami Waterfront Advisory Board, and represents the Marine Council on the Biscayne Bay Regional Restoration Coordination Team. 

 

He has served as President and/or Chairman of numerous industrial, trade, and civic organizations, including , Rotary Club of Coconut Grove, the Rotary Club of Coral Gables, the Executives’ Association of Greater Miami and the International Executives’ Association. He is currently treasurer of the the Propeller Club of the Port of Miami.

 Everingham received his BA and his MBA from Florida State University.
